Sean “Diddy” Combs’ fate sealed, sentenced to 4 years and two months in prison

Sean “Diddy” Combs has been sentenced to 4 years and two months in prison for two Mann Act counts of transportation for the purpose of prostitution.

In addition to the prison sentence, the court imposed a maximum fine of $500,000.

After he finished speaking, Judge Arun Subramarian told Combs that his entire history would be considered, from the charges, to his artistic and community contributions and progress.

He made it clear that the conviction was based on the Mann Act and not on sex trafficking and money laundering, charges that previously weighed against him but were dropped at the July hearing.

Subramanian said he appreciates the fact that Sean “Diddy” Combs is a self-made artist and businessman who has “inspired communities,” and stressed that his work and influence are “recognized and iconic.” He added that it is even more impressive because of the hardships he faced growing up.

The judge continued that there is no doubt that the rapper is devoted to his family. But he “rejected the defense’s attempt to characterize the sex parties and hotel nights as consensual intimate experiences or simply a ‘sex, drugs and rock n’ roll’ story.”

“A history of good deeds cannot erase the power and control you had over the women you said you loved. You abused them physically, emotionally, and psychologically and used them to achieve your goals.”

Subramanian added that he was “sitting there when he heard Cassie Ventura and Jane.”

“We read it in the messages and emails. We saw it in the photos of the cracks, the bruises, the broken doors, we saw the video of Ventura’s violent beating,” he said.

However, he is not convinced that history will not repeat itself and “a significant sentence is needed to send a message to abusers and victims that abuse of women is met with full responsibility.”

According to him, Combs’ actions “irreparably damaged two women” and they still feel it today.

Arun Subramanian said Sean “Diddy” Combs’ sentence is a “difficult time” away from his family, but stressed that he will have a life after serving his sentence.

He went on to thank the victims, Cassie Ventura and Jane, for sharing their stories. “First of all, I want to tell you that we listened to you,” he added, adding that everyone is proud of them. “You were speaking for the millions of women out there who have been victims, but feel invisible, powerless, and have had to suffer in silence. You told those women and the world that violence behind closed doors doesn’t have to stay hidden forever. The number of people you touched is incalculable.”

After handing down the verdict, the judge addressed Sean “Diddy” Combs one last time, telling him that he knows he’s in a “dark place” right now, but he and his family will get through it.

“There is light at the end of the tunnel,” said the judge.
