A man named Mr Burger married Miss King and Burger King paid for their wedding

Yep, that’s one way of showing your love for the Whopper.

Joel and Ashley may seem like a bog-standard couple name, but their surnames are remarkably Burger and King, respectively. The pair were close friends throughout school and began dating, despite the obvious teasing they received.

The unusual names received worldwide attention to the point where Burger King paid for their wedding in July 2015.

“When we heard about the happy, Burger-King couple, we felt an overwhelming urge to celebrate their upcoming marriage,” a spokesperson for the fast food chain told ABC.

“On so many levels, it felt like fate: they found each other and their story found us.”
