Florida Republicans want to ban pride flags with new bill
Republican lawmakers in Florida are trying to ban pride flags from being flown at state facilities, including government buildings and public schools.
Senator Clay Yarborough and State Representative David Borrero are sponsoring the identical House Bill 347 and Senate Bill 426, which would bar the buildings from displaying flags “which represent political partisanship, political ideology, race, gender, or sexual orientation.”
Under those guidelines, state facilities would not be permitted to fly any kind of LGBTQ+ pride flag or Black Lives Matter flags.
