Trump nominates lawyer who opposes trans athletes in women’s sports to become federal judge
Donald Trump has nominated attorney Justin Olson to sit on the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana.
Trump took to social media on 14 November and said: “It is my honor to nominate Justin Olson to serve as Judge on the United States District Court for the Southern District of Indiana!
Graduating magna cum laude from the Indiana University Maurer School of Law, Justin previously distinguished himself at the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Indianapolis and, as a litigator, has been fighting tirelessly to keep men out of women’s sports.”
Olson is an attorney involved in lawsuits backed by the Independent Council on Women’s Sports (ICONS) against major U.S. universities and athletic bodies over their treatment of transgender athletes, including cases related to swimmer Lia Thomas and volleyball player Blaire Fleming.
