Trump’s Press Secretary Faces Immigration Firestorm After ICE Detains Her Nephew’s Mother
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt has been one of the loudest voices defending President Trump’s immigration crackdown… but now the story has hit close to home.
According to multiple reports, her nephew’s mother, Bruna Caroline Ferreira – a Brazilian woman who came here legally as a child on a tourist visa – allegedly overstayed that visa back in 1999. Homeland Security says she’s now in ICE custody and facing removal proceedings, while her lawyer argues she has no criminal record, previously held DACA protection, and is in the middle of a lawful process to stay in the country.
Family members say she still has a relationship with her 11-year-old son and was reportedly on the way to pick him up when she was arrested. Now she’s being held in a Louisiana detention facility while her attorney fights the case and her relatives focus on keeping the child’s life stable.
