Military sleep method that ‘works on 96% of people’ claims to make you fall asleep in just 2 minutes
A man has shared a sleep technique that reportedly works to get 96% of people to fall asleep within just two minutes. Getting to sleep and staying asleep is something many of us struggle with, leaving us tired and irritable after a poor night’s shut-eye.
Whether it’s from scrolling mindlessly on TikTok until the early hours, to simply being unable to switch off the thoughts buzzing in your head, many people struggle to get off to the land of nod.
However, there is one method – known as the military sleep method – which claims to send up to 96% of people off in just two minutes.
According to TikToker Justin Agustin, the method is pretty simple to follow and will help you drift off without sitting up all night watching the clock and counting down the hours you have left until your alarm.
Justin took to TikTok to reveal that the method was developed and used by the military to allow soldiers to fall asleep quickly, even in uncomfortable and noisy environments such as on the battlefield.
He claimed it was mostly developed for fighter pilots who needed to be at peak performance at all times while in the air, as reflexes can be dulled when a person has had a poor night’s sleep.
The first step is to calm the body by systematically relaxing it, by relaxing and “shutting down” each part of the body in turn, from head to toe.

To begin, you must start by relaxing the muscles in your forehead, then begin to relax your eyes, cheeks, and jaw, while focusing on your breathing. Then, the systematic relaxation should continue down the body, relaxing your neck and shoulders, and loosening your hands and fingers.
Some people are helped by imagining a warm feeling spreading down the body as each part is relaxed, including the chest, stomach, thighs, knees, legs, and finally the feet. While relaxing the body, you should also clear your mind of any stress, which is definitely easier said than done for some, but visualizing calm scenarios can often help.
Justin recommends either imagining yourself floating in a canoe on a calm lake with nothing but clear blue skies above you, or that you are lying in a black velvet hammock in a pitch-black room.
Of course, the mind naturally tends to wander, so he says to bring yourself back into a state of calm, you should repeat the words “Don’t think” for 10 seconds.
According to Justin, you’re supposed to practice the technique every night for six weeks to get the ability to master falling asleep within two minutes, which he claims works for 96% of people.
People soon flooded the comments, writing: “‘First you need to relax’ – um fam that’s why I can’t sleep”, and: “just woke up, it works”.
Others added: “I’m watching this at 4am and just saving it for when I can’t sleep thank you”, and: “I’ve tried this and it works. However, I can’t sleep for more than 4 hours lol”.
And there is some truth in the method, as Glamour reports: “It was created specifically for soldiers in the US military and is geared to work even in intense environments – like a literal battlefield.”
