Donkey is finally getting his own movie after Shrek 5

Eddie Murphy has confirmed that after recording Shrek 5, he’s heading back to the booth this September to start work on a Donkey spinoff film.

Just like Puss in Boots, Donkey will finally get his own big-screen story – this time focusing on his life with his dragon wife and their half-dragon, half-donkey kids.

Shrek 5 is still in production and set to arrive first, but fans now know there’s more Far Far Away chaos on the horizon. Murphy suggested the Donkey film is about “three years” away from release while discussing the topic at San Diego Comic-Con this past weekend.
