Vietnam Approves New Russian Cancer Drug — Offering Hope for Patients With 14 Deadly Cancers
Vietnam’s Ministry of Health has officially approved Pembroria, a Russian-made cancer immunotherapy treatment (pembrolizumab biosimilar), offering hope to patients battling over 14 types of cancer, including lung cancer, melanoma, colorectal cancer, cervical cancer, kidney cancer, and stomach cancer.
Each cycle of Pembroria requires two vials, costing approximately 36 million VND, making it a more affordable alternative to other immunotherapy treatments. However, it is not covered by Vietnam’s national health insurance, so patients need to pay out-of-pocket.
Doctors will prescribe Pembroria based on individual patient health, tumor type, and disease stage, ensuring personalized and effective cancer care. This move highlights Vietnam’s progress in modern cancer treatments, increasing access to cutting-edge immunotherapy for patients in need.
