In a historic move for civil rights, Pennsylvania has become the latest state to sign the CROWN Act into law, making it illegal to discriminate based on hair texture and protective styles.

Governor Josh Shapiro signed the bill, which bans discrimination in jobs, housing, and schools against styles like locs, braids, twists, and afros. Activists and residents shared powerful stories of being forced to change their hair for job interviews or facing punishment at school.
