I Can’t Even Lift My Baby’: Mum With 36M Chest Begs for Surgery After NHS Refuses Help

Melissa Ashcroft, a 30-year-old mum from Scotland, is desperate for breast-reduction surgery because her 36M breasts cause severe back pain and make daily life extremely difficult. She struggles to get out of bed, can’t pick up her baby, and can’t exercise due to the pain.

She previously planned to get the surgery at 20 but was told to wait until after having children. Now, after giving birth to two kids, the NHS has refused the procedure because her BMI is 35 — she needs to reach 27 to qualify.

Melissa says losing weight is nearly impossible with her physical limitations, so she is crowdfunding £8,000 to pay for private surgery, which doesn’t require the strict BMI limit. She believes the operation would completely change her life and finally allow her to be active with her children again.
